In about the year 2000, I was struck by the “genealogy bug”. Since that time I have collected thousands of names, dates and places to document the births, marriages, and deaths of my relatives near and far. All those facts are, of course, dreadfully boring.
But, along the way I have also been able to peek into the lives of family members that lived perhaps hundreds of years ago. I have discovered some wonderful stories. Some are very brief, perhaps only a caption on a photograph, others more involved. They can be amusing or saddening. Truly inspiring or just curiously interesting. All reveal something about those who came before us and the times in which they lived.
In this space I will share a few of the “nuggets” I have found and perhaps how I found them.
Hope you enjoy.
